As a McGill grad I hate to see such DEI sophistry coming out of the place.

I’m another McGill grad (MA and PhD) who’s also very disappointed in it for this and many other reasons.

Yeah. This illiberalism is in all universities today, and McGill is just typical. I suppose they did hire Joe Kincheloe in the Faculty of Education, which was a bad sign they were especially captured. I graduated from engineering in 1988 so a longtime ago, and during my time, well, it preceded the real nonsense, although it was starting in the early 1990s just after I left. I dont know if it comes back from all this.

Richard Bilkszto committed suicide after attending an anti-Black racism seminar with the Toronto District School Board where he was accused of being racist. Also, try being a White woman in Canada living with HIV when organizations specifically state their information sessions are for Black and or Indigenous women only.

Interesting. Can you share links to the racially restricted HIV info sessions?

As with old school Soviet-style communism, the fundamental lie under-girding this is equality.

Under communism 1.0, that lie was equality of the classes. Since all people of a nation were equal in their abilities, personalities, and preferences, unequal outcomes between classes were proof of capitalist oppression. This provided a moral justification for rule by a vast, tyrannical bureaucracy.

Under wokeness (communism 2.0), the lie has been shifted to equality of different identity groups: ethnicities, sexes, sexualities, etc. Since all people of the world are equal in their abilities, ..., well, you get the idea.

Added benefits of this new version of leftism are: the cultivation of an even greater number of dependent clients by the state and their corporate backers, no shared national or ethnic cohesion to unite opposition, and the dispossession of the most capable people that could oppose such a globalized tyranny: white men.

The headline exaggerates what is happening. U Alberta just altered its framework to exclude "DEI" lingo. Canada is not doubling down across the board at all.

Changing the name but still excluding people by skin tone or politics will fool few for very long. U Alberta is most certainly doubling down.

Excellent piece. As you may know disgraced WRDSB ex Director Jewaan Chanicka hired a number of DEI - Black “ Consultants “ from outside Waterloo before being dismissed. DEI is alive and well WRDSB.
